headed over to 'Coffee Shop XXX' to eat some Mee Mamak.
I'm calling it 'Coffee Shop XXX' because I've forgotten what is it called but it
is the one beside Sheraton Hotel. As for B-Boey, he's an actual person. Not
some generic imaginary friends of mine. Not that I have any. Actually I have
....but nevermind.
The actual name of the Mee Mamak stall is Ramzan or Ramdul Bros Mee Masak.
I'm not sure. What I know is for some period, the stall gained popularity back
at its old location in the CRC. Hence after moving here, it's called CRC Mee Masak
/Goreng. No, they didn't move here recently. It has been years.
What is CRC? It stands for Chinese Recreational Club, a place where chinese
extremists gather to plot genocides against other races in Penang. Below the
tennis courts are secret underground labs where bio weapons are made.
The Place
Mostly the people are here
for the mee or the nasi
melayu.
And that's B-Boey on the right.
Me
wank-mode. He can't stop
jerking my n70 and totally
ruined my cool pose.
Mee Goreng Istimewa/Special
Price : RM4.00
Mamak style mee goreng. This is my favourite mee goreng. One of its kind,
it's fried with garlic, beef chunks, chicken meat, vege, cuttle fish plus
the usual ingredients. Not too spicy or wet with gravy, the taste is just
right for me. Istimewa/Special costs RM4.00 while the Besar/Big or
Biasa/Normal costs cheaper.
Mee Masak Special/Istimewa
(N70 ran out of battery)
Price : RM4.00
The mee is slightly stir fried like mee goreng. After that, it's
mixed with their special stew beef soup. Not to the extend you
can taste beef in the soup, but the soup is made with beef.
Though not as good as it used to be, but the mee masak
is still unique.
Overall, the CRC Mee Mamak is way better than a lot of average mee goreng
around. From CRC to Coffee Shop XXX, the stall has been serving for
more than a decade or perhaps 2, and is one of the more known stalls
in Penang.
(Side Note : I had diarrhea twice from this place. Might have a weak
stomach...or....)
