Johnny's Restaurant - Queensbay Mall

On Thursday (7th December), I went over to Queensbay Mall for the first
time with Alfred, Kenny and those 4 girls. What? Class?! Due to Operation
Schule Schwänzen, we had to go to Queensbay.

I was kinda starving when we reach there. So we spent time looking for
food once we reached there. They were several familiar food outlets. I
wouldn't want to come all the way to QueensBay and eat something that
I can find back at my area.

TGI Friday was in 'training session', so we decided to eat at Johnny's
Restaurant, given the name, we had the impression it was some
kind of western food restaurant.

The place
From far, it looks like some
restaurant serving meals at
above RM15.00.
There's like even a waiter
outside of the restaurant
to receive and guide people
in. Don Alfredo is on the far
right.

Me
I pose with the menu again.
Alfred is on the right while
Kenny is on my left. Tracie
helped took my photo.
Yes, the menu doesn't seems
western...

The actual food
Much to our surprised, the
place serve mainly Thai
Steamboat and some other
Thai food. Not in the mood
for steamboat, we ordered
the set meals.

Crap Drink
Another of those diluted crap
drink. It taste like water
mixed with salt. But it's
yellow in color and tastes
a bit bitter. So, I will
assume it's diluted urine.

Tom Yam
It may look diluted to you
but its taste is decent.
No complains for this. Quite
a decent bowl of tom yam.

Beef Rice
I ordered this. Looks horribly
plain to me for something
served in a place called
Johnny's Restaurant. And it was
very average. Nothing special.

Special Green Noodle
Alfred had this. I've forgotten
what the noodle was called.
Doesn't matter anyway cuz
it tastes like wantan mee.
So let's call it green wantan
mee.

Belacan Fried Rice
I've forgotten if it's Belacan
or Pineapple Fried Rice. I don't
see pineapples so I'll assume it's
belacan. 2 of the girls shared
this. I do not know which pair
but I don't see them saying
it's good. So I'll assume again
it's average.

Sambal/Spicy Fried Rice
Kenny had this. The other pair
had this as well. Surprisingly
this was not that bad. But
still nothing to wow about.

Water Chestnuts in Coconut Milk

Price : RM3-4
Aahh, this is my favourite Thai dessert. I didn't expect to find it here.
Pieces of water chestnuts are stuffed inside red jelly cubes served in
coconut milk. Although it could do better with some slices of fruits, the
dessert was nice. Lovely. Mmmm...I will write a more detailed explanation
about this dessert the next time i go to Yellow Light.

The set meals at Johnny's are at RM8.90 each. The meal comes with a
glass of crap drink, bowl of decent tomyam, so-so main dish and a scoop
of ice cream (which I forgot to take). If you look at one aspect, I think
it's one of the cheapest meal you can get at Queensbay. On the other
hand, you can increase your budget to RM12 or 15 and you will have
a wide range of better food choices.

To give the place the benefit of the doubt, maybe its tomyam steamboat
is way nicer compared to its counterpart. Yet again, it's just a maybe.
But at least the water chestnuts dessert was good. And they should
change it to Thaksin's Restaurant. Not Johnny's.
